SENIOR TRANSPORTATION CONNECTION
CELEBRATES ITS ONE MILLIONTH PASSENGER
A prime highlight of the Senior Transportation Connection (STC) tenth anniversary year occurred Oct. 6, when Daniel Biada became STC' one millionth passenger - and it was his very first ride with STC! Mr. Biada lives in North Olmsted, which has partnered with the not-for-profit organization since 2009.
'This is an especially meaningful milestone, as it speaks to the volume of services STC has delivered in its decade in business. It is an honor to support the independence of our consumers so they can get to their medical appointments, senior center activities or go shopping,' said Janice Dzigiel, STC's executive director.
Mr. Biada boarded the bus to return home after his day at North Olmsted Senior Center. The accessible vehicle was driven by Cheryl Willard, resident of Cleveland's West Park neighborhood, who joined the STC team earlier this year. 'I just moved to North Olmsted to be with my daughter, Jaclyn Meyer. This is my very first ride - what a nice surprise, and a nice welcome to North Olmsted,' Mr. Biada said.
North Olmsted Senior Center Administrator Jackie Chavez-Anderson joined in the celebration, presenting flowers, which he was eager to share with his daughter. Three area Target stores donated gift cards and Laurice Skin Care donated a gift certificate to help add to the festivities.
'Thanks to STC, a number of North Olmsted residents can access our meals and activities every day,' Chavez-Anderson explained. 'Safe, reliable transportation is essential for our seniors to stay connected and stay involved in this community. We're thrilled to be the location where this milestone is achieved.'
